With Special Guest, David Korten, author of When Corporations Rule the World, and The Great Turning: From Empire to Earth Community. Dr. Korten holds MBA and Ph.D. degrees from the Stanford Business School and has thirty years experience as a development worker in Asia, Africa, and Latin America. Dr. Korten has been a Harvard Business School professor, US Air Force captain, Ford Foundation project specialist in Manila, and Asia regional advisor to the US Agency for International Development. He co-founded and is board chair of the Positive Futures Network, which publishes YES! A Journal of Positive Futures; is founder and president of the People-Centered Development Forum; an associate of the International Forum on Globalization; and a member of the Social Ventures Network. He also helped frame the underlying rationale and strategy of Business Alliance for Local Living Economies (BALLE), an international alliance of more than 40 independently operated local business networks supporting local and independently owned businesses, including Sustainable Connections, and now serves on the BALLE board of directors.

YES, gorging ourselves with a delicious spread of local food is on the schedule again this year! Please bring a dish to share, last names A-L: main dish; M-Z: side or dessert. For those with restricted diets, reporting your ingredients is always appreciated (we’ll provide note cards and markers if you forget to ‘dish’ the ‘scoop’ on your contribution)! Beverages available by donation - including beer from Boundary Bay and Honey Moon mead.
Get there early as the best dishes always go fast, (AND we have FREE YES! Magazine ‘Go Local’ issues for the first couple hundred attendees)!
Free parking is available, but please carpool or use alternative transportation if possible. We’d LOVE to beat last year’s tally of 34% of attendees arriving by planet-friendly methods… thank you for doing your part.
