Achieving Zero Waste
Thursday, November 6th, 2008
We're getting into the nitty-gritty to develop a strategic waste reduction plan for YOUR BUSINESS. See the full agenda HERE.
Whatcom County is home to successful business thought-leaders who have long understood the economic potential of sustainability. Waste reduction fits this bill. (For example: Paying to dispose of waste seemed like an outdated idea for Louws Truss of Ferndale... so they devised a waste management plan that is paying out serious profit. Check out the case study.)
We'll start with some inspiring updates from Michelle Long and then quickly move into some peer to peer coaching while you create a plan for your next steps.
This is Beyond Recycling 101:
-
Making the business case for waste reduction with Rodd Pemble of SSC, who will walk you through your business' "waste ledger"
-
Getting your employees and customers excited to participate - and spreading the word so people know what you're doing!
-
Re-thinking your operations so you bring less "waste" into your business and send less home with your customers.
Featuring Q&A with some of our community’s most knowledgeable waste-reduction specialists.
Plus: Free up to date TZW campaign promotional materials and “how-to” resources from Sustainable Connections
Regardless of whether you're new to these ideas or have gone as far as you think you can, come prepared to think critically and formulate new plans. You’ll leave well-equipped with realistic next steps and a tool box of waste-reduction strategies.
You do BIG THINGS, and together we ARE moving this community Toward Zero Waste!
